How to Ensure Proper Hand Hygiene?
How hand hygiene should be provided is as important as why and when it should be provided. Improper hand hygiene has no effect in protecting against infections and protecting the people around us. So how to ensure proper hand hygiene?
Hand washing;
- For proper hand washing, all jewellery and accessories on the hands are removed.
- Hands should be wet with running water.
- 3-5 ml of soap should be taken on the hands.
- Rub hands thoroughly all over.
- Clean between fingers and wrists.
- Hands should be washed for 15 to 30 seconds.
- Rinse off the foam, dry hands thoroughly with a paper towel.
Hand Antiseptic Use;
- 3-5 ml of hand antiseptic is taken on the hand.
- The palm and back of the hand are rubbed.
- The thumbs are rubbed and the hands are allowed to dry for 20-30 seconds.
